Clarke, Audrey Leota

Audrey Leota Clarke, 98, of Walnut Creek, Calif., peacefully passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at Tiffany Court Assisted Living.

Audrey was born Oct. 10, 1914, in Montana to Harvey and Elizabeth Burns. Following her high school graduation she married the love of her life, Walter Everett Clarke, in 1934. They spent most of their married life in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She enjoyed reading, taking walks, playing bingo, knitting, crossword puzzles and dinners with family and good friends. She was active at Olivet Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing in their kitchen band. They spent vacation time in California and Florida. She moved to Walnut Creek, Calif., after the death of Walter, in 1999.

Those left to honor and cherish Audrey's memory are two of her daughters, Beverly (Glenn) Lutz of Ocala, Fla., and Kristen (Charles) Werner of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and her sister, Martha Grisham of Manteca, Calif. Audrey is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1998; daughter, Betty Robinson in 1985; and one granddaughter in 2007.

Services will be private and held at Cedar Memorial Park at a later date.
