Clark, T. Cal
T. Cal Clark, 85, of Eldridge, formerly of Kalona and Wayland, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, in the Grand Haven Rest Home, Eldridge, following a lingering illness. Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Kalona United Methodist Church with Pastor Gerry Kahler officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Peterseim Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date.
A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona United Methodist Church, the Kalona Golf Club, and Grand Haven Retirement Community of Eldridge.
Thomas (Cal) Clark was born on June 3, 1942, in Wayland, Iowa, the son of Frank D. and Martha Pearl (Pence) Clark. He graduated from Wayland High School in 1942, and was united in marriage to Kathleen “Tike” Jackson in Kalona on June 23, 1944. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II (from 1943 to 1946) in the Pacific. He was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church, Kalona Golf Course, the Elks Club, the Wayland American Legion and served on the Wayland Fire Department.
Cal enjoyed golfing, singing in the church choir, woodworking and carpentry, traveling, playing cards and ballroom dancing.
Survivors include his wife Kathleen “Tike” Clark of Eldridge; a daughter, Laura (Steve) Sinn of Eldridge; three sons, Dave (Peg) Clark and John (Sandy) Clark of Wayland, and Joe (Rita) Clark of Eagan, Minn.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Ann (Richard) Stoops of Liberal, Kan.
Preceding Cal in death were his parents; a brother, Norman Clark; and a sister, Erma Wenger.
