Clarence Parkar Sheppard, 93, of Mason-ville, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at his home in Masonville. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Burial: Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
Clarence was born April 29, 1922, in rural Man-chester, the son of Jay Parkar and Nellie (Jones) Sheppard. Clarence attended a country school and then graduated from Manchester High School in 1939. Following graduation he worked on the family farm. On June 11, 1944, Clarence was united in marriage to Mae Stoltz at the Methodist Church in Manchester. They then lived on a farm in the Manchester and Greeley area. In 1953, they moved to Masonville, where they farmed until 1968. Clarence and Mae moved to Cedar Rapids and then he attended Kirkwood Community College and worked for Wilson's Foods as an order coordinator. In 2009, Clarence and Mae moved back to Masonville to be near their daughter, Shirley.
Clarence enjoyed music. In his spare time he like playing the piano and other musical instruments.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife, Mae; two children, Shirley (Craig) Starr of Masonville and Larry (Jean) Sheppard of Hiawatha; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Marvin (Maureen) of Illinois.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Nellie Sheppard; a brother; and a sister.
