Clarence L. Mowery, 76, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, 11 a.m., at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial to follow.
Clarence was born on Oct. 13, 1947, to Leo and Dorothy (Slinker) Mowery in Marshalltown, Iowa. He grew up on a farm in Conrad, Iowa. Clarence served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Janette Phillips on Dec. 23, 1967. He worked as a custodian for McKinley Middle School, a driver for Car Frae Meats and Boston Fish, as well as a motor repairman for Superior Motor Winding.
Clarence enjoyed fishing, golfing, and hunting. He especially loved his cats and dogs.
Clarence is survived by his children, Michael (Angie) and Kelly (Roy); grandchildren, Mikaela, Sheryl, William, Kate, and Briar; great-grandchildren, Andyn, Zaylor, and Nevaeh; siblings, Carol, Lyle, and Pat; sisters-in-law, Susan and Pat; brother-in-law, Bob; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janette, and his parents.
