CLARENCE "IRV" HICKEY

Clarence Irvin "IRV" Hickey, 84, died Monday, April 27, 2015. He was born in Cedar Rapids, the son of Clarence and Harriet (Hey) Hickey. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial: 1 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at St. Benedict Cemetery in Decorah.
IRV graduated from Franklin High School in 1948 and went on to the University of Iowa. He served in the Army's Third Infantry in Korea earning a spot in the Army band and subsequently became the editor of the military paper, "Front Line."
In addition to his family, his passions were music, baseball and numerous CRCT (Cedar Rapids Community Theater) productions.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Erin (Larry); granddaughter, Bridget; a sibling; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joe; and his parents.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice in memory of IRV.
