Clarence L. Engledow, 74, of Fairfax, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, surrounded by family at his home under the care of Hospice Compassus.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at the American Legion Hall in Urbana.
Clarence was born June 22, 1941 in Vinton, Iowa, to Raymond and Evelyn (Edaburn) Engledow. He graduated from Urbana High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany from 1959 until 1962. He then served in the U.S. National Guard for seven years. He was united in marriage to Linda Candler on Aug. 23, 1974, in Rock Island, Ill.
He was employed by Goss Graphics in Cedar Rapids for 30 years until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing and gardening. He loved to do handiwork. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda; six children, Brad, Jody, Steve, Lonny, Jaymie and Luke; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; mother, Evelyn Mather; four sisters, Sharon, Shirley, Mary and Karen; two brothers, Ken and Bill; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond, in 1944; and his stepfather, Roy Mather; as well as his brother, Ron.
