Clareen Elisabeth Rich, 71, affectionately known as Claire, passed peacefully to the other side of the veil on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Parkview Nursing Home in Wayland.
Claire was the daughter of Clareen (Gallup) Arnold and James Arnold. She was born in San Bernadino, Calif., in 1945. She lived in Washington, Iowa, West Toluca Lake, Calif., and retired in Kalona, Iowa, in 2008.
Her first love was the Lord, her husband, Ken, and children, Rachelle and John. She had great success in life being a nurse and therapist (R.N., N.P., M.F.C.C). She loved helping all those who came through her life with any situation they experienced. Her family and friends were her delight.
She will forever be loved and missed!
Her family includes her husband, Ken; daughter, Rachelle (Ronald) Blackwell; son, John (Kim) Rich; grandchildren, Jonathan Rich, Makensie Hansen-Rich, Taylor Hansen-Rich and granddaughter-in-law, Janea Aeto, James Rich, Alexander Rich, Madison Roller and Anneliese Roller; great-granddaughter, Naviah Aeto-Rich; sisters, Rebecca (Richard) Jones and Saundra (Bruce) Boyd; brother-in-law, Mike (Penny) Farrier; mother-in-law, Jeane Fry; in-laws, Wes and Riella Rich, Emery Gingerich, Bill Sebok, Steve and Jer Rich, and Phil and Jacque Rich; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Clareen Arnold; sister, Cathy Farrier; father-in-law, Walter Rich; sisters-in-law, Jane Gingerich and Marti Sebok; niece, Lori Rich; and nephew, Perry Rich.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to all the medical staff and nursing assistance who helped keep her life going and vibrant, especially Dr. Krista Johnson, Ms. Karen Dillion, Dr. Muneera Kapadia, Dr. Elizabeth Takacs, and many more. As well as the Parkview Nursing Home staff, Wayland (all of you!!) and United Presbyterian facility, Washington.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Shiloh Church, rural Kalona. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona.
