Clara Martha Cobb was born March 28, 1937, in Monroe County, Iowa, the daughter of Guy Milford and Geneva Mae (Lane) Allison. She participated in 4H in her youth, and graduated from North English High School in 1955. On Nov. 20, 1955, Martha was united in marriage to Gene Carroll Cobb at the North English United Methodist Church. She worked the farm alongside Gene, was a sales clerk at Tanger Mall in Williamsburg and sold Avon for many years. Martha was a member of the North English United Methodist Church and a former English Valley EVettes. She served as a 4H leader for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, reading and listening to Gene sing and play his guitar. Martha died on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at the English Valley Care Center in North English, at the age of 85 years.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Cobb of North English, Lonnie (Debbie) Cobb of Eagan, Minn., Michael (Sandra) Cobb of North English and Jeffrey (Kim) Cobb of North English; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; infant daughter, Laurie Ann Cobb; and two brothers, Jerry and Jim Allison.
Celebration of Life service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the North English United Methodist Church or the North English Library.
