Clara Juett, 87, of Monticello, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Jorgensen officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be provided at the church following interment. Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and on Monday at the church after 9:30 a.m.
Clara is survived by her stepson, Jason Juett of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Kathy (John) Harms of Monticello, Iowa, Karen Howard of Richmond, Va., Kurt (Donna) Jansen of Johnsburg, Ill., Ruth (Gary) Carter of La Porte City, Iowa, Frederick (Mary Beth) Burrack of Manhattan, Kan., David (Debbie) Burrack of Allentown, Pa., Clara Smith of Des Moines, Iowa, Judy Danneman of Monticello, Iowa, Joan (Dave) Long of Alamo, Texas, and Luther Danneman of Ames, Iowa; and many loving great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two spouses; three sisters, Johanna (Donald) Danneman, Lois (Richard) Burrack and Hildegard (Clifford) Jansen; two brothers, Kurt and Frederick; and a nephew, Paul Danneman.
Clara was born on Nov. 16, 1930, in Saint Donatus, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Clara (Randecker) Kehren. She was united in marriage to Tom Bavis. He preceded her in death. In 1973 she married Darrell Juett in a small ceremony in Las Vegas. He passed away in September 1980. Clara worked for three-plus years at Grant Wood Elementary School as a special education teacher, assisting elementary students in reading. She was a volunteer at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital in the pre- and post-surgery unit. She enjoyed playing bridge, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, attending Iowa football games and watching Iowa basketball. Clara was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she was actively involved in church activities, which included the vocal and hand bell choirs.
Her greatest passion was spending time with her family. She will be forever remembered for her gracious attitude, warm smile, sweet nature and loving manner, and for her dedication to her family and friends.
The family would like to thank all the residents and staff from the Monticello Nursing & Rehab Center and Keystone Cedars Assisted Living for their love, support and tender care given to Clara.
