Cindy L. Rathjen, 64, of Marion, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service. Burial: Genoa Bluffs Cemetery, Ladora, Iowa.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Ron; daughter, Ann (Jeff) Roushar; grandson, Jackson; granddaughters, Makenzie and Madison; siblings, Kathy (Curt) Lawrence, Mary (Rick) Wood and Larry (Beverly) Buehler; great-granddaughter, Kenzie; and many nieces and nephews.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Jennifer Rathjen.
Cindy was born Aug. 13, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of Larry and Shirlene (Wright) Buehler. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School in 1969. On Dec. 9, 1972, she was united in marriage to Ron Rathjen. Cindy was an advocate for victims' rights and spoke to many groups about her daughter, Jenny. She will be remembered for her loving smile and by always putting others first. Cindy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to ALS Eastern Iowa Chapter, First Assembly of God, Missions or Drop Inn Resale Ministries.
