Christy L. Austin, 55, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, March 14, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, from a long battle with cancer. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Randy Kasch will officiate. A visitation will be held at from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the chapel.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Austin; her son, Wiley D. Austin of Cedar Rapids; her mother, Jean Benn of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Kevin Benn of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Mike (Kyle) Noyer of Erie, Pa.; sister-in-law, Sally Noyer of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brother-in-law, Eddie (Cindy) Noyer of Erie, Pa.; sister-in-law, Robin (Shep) Logan of Erie, Pa.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Benn; grandparents; and mother-in-law, Janice Austin.
Christy was born Oct. 3, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Jean and Donald Benn. She married Bob Austin on April 13, 1996, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a beautician for JC Penney and worked for Wal-Mart. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, board member of Hiawatha Kids and delivered pizza for the Special Education Program at Kenwood Elementary School. Christy loved cats and collected bears. She enjoyed cross stitching, camping and bowling. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
