Christopher "Chris" John Munger, 35, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Stonebridge Church, 1829 Stoney Point Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. Inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Christopher John Munger was born May 15, 1978, to Theodore Munger III and Rachel (Hackmann) Munger in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Aimee (Tindall) Munger on July 23, 2005, in Cedar Rapids.
He was a senior network engineer at Transamerica.
His dogs had a special place in his heart. He enjoyed cooking for friends and family, especially grilling. He loved nature, landscaping, fishing and watching storms.
Chris was a music afic-ionado. In high school, he was in the drum line, on the golf team and won an award for ceramics that was presented at the University of Iowa. He loved sharing his passions with others and was a giving person, always willing to help a friend in need. He enjoyed rem-iniscing about memorable past experiences with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Aimee; stepson, Brendan Teel; mother, Rachel of Cedar Rapids; mother- and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Greg Toland of Oneida, Ill.; grandmother, Gladys Hackmann of West Union; brother, Shawn Munger of Cedar Rapids; and grandson, Silas Teel.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Munger III; maternal grandfather, Hugo Hack-mann; and paternal grandparents, Theodore Munger II and Ardys Munger.
