Chris Lewis, 72, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, May 13, 2022. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Chris was born Nov. 1, 1949, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of James and Beverly (Stone) Thomas. She was united in marriage to Larry David Lewis on Feb. 28, 1970, in Cedar Rapids. Chris was a stay-at-home mother until she started a house cleaning business. She later worked for Meth-Wick, and then Rockwell Collins until her retirement.
Chris was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the VIF Ladies Group. She belonged to the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, serving as Queen. Chris enjoyed traveling and camping. She also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and puzzles. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Larry Lewis of Cedar Rapids; children, Michell Lewis of Cedar Rapids and her children, Cameron, Cody and Brooklyn, and her grandchildren, Carter and Owen, Tammy (Shane) Kies of Atkins and their children, Miranda, Keegan, Kail and Kade; and Brian Lewis of Atkins and his children, Collin, Hannah, Micah and Wyatt; siblings, Tim, Ken and Carol Thomas; and best friend, Karen Bardwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Beverly Thomas; and two brothers, Terry Thomas and "Little Michael."
