Childs, Gladys Caroline (Woeste)
Gladys Caroline (Woeste) Childs of Des Moines, formerly of Manchester, Iowa, died peacefully at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, Iowa May 7, 2011. She was born April 1, 1923, near Colesburg, Iowa, to Joseph H. and Carrie (Brockmeier) Woeste.
Gladys is survived by sons Allan H. (Cindy) Childs of Powell, Wyoming, and James D. Childs (Wickie Dawe) of Des Moines; two grandsons, Graham A. Childs of Washington, D.C., and Dana A. “Mike” Childs of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Hazel Probasco of Clive; one brother, Donald (Charlene) Woeste of Robins; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and two brothers, Arvin J. Woeste and Stanley F. Woeste.
In her memory, Gladys would want you to play with a child, take a friend to lunch, become a volunteer, adopt a pet, or donate to your favorite charity. Some of her choices are Delaware County 4-H, 1417 N. Franklin Street, PO Box 336, Manchester, IA 52057; Wesley Life Hospice, 5508 NW 88th Street, Suite 120, Johnston, Iowa 50131; and the United Methodist Church or church of your choice.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at United Methodist Church in Manchester. Officiating: Pastor Dennis Glew.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester and one hour before service at the church on Saturday.
Interment: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
