"Chic" Noel Tollefson, 80, of Ely, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at his home. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Theodoro Vigil. Family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores of Ely; daughters, Jackie Tollefson of Cedar Rapids, Tracy (Jerry) Schmitz of Mineral Point, Wis., and Pamela (Scott) VandeZandschulp of Casa Grande, Ariz.; siblings, Patricia Hall of Eugene, Ore., Otis (Jane) Tollefson of Decorah, and Gail (Fred) Libby of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Tommy, Amy, Bruce, Mark, Rachel, Keith and Daniel; and great-grandchildren, Devon and Kaia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Kevin Tollefson.
Chic was born on July 16, 1934, in Decorah, Iowa, son of Otto and Marjorie (Ramsey) Tollefson. He attended McKinnley High School and then went on to Kirkwood, where he received his associate's degree in marketing. Chic served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. On Sept. 5, 1954, he married Dolores Feuerhelm in Reno, Nev.
He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Chic enjoyed Thursday morning coffee at Oakland Road Hy-Vee, watching TV and reading the newspaper to keep up on current events. He also bowled and golfed in his younger years.
