Chelsea Jay Frueh (Sobolik), of Marion, Iowa, 28, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022, from metastatic melanoma. Chelsea was born on Sept. 4, 1993, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a graduate of Linn-Mar High School, Class of 2012.
She recently transferred to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids from Des Moines to continue her career as a
dedicated certified surgical technologist at the Birth Care Center. She took pride in helping 450 babies enter the world during her career. Chelsea lived her life to the fullest by making countless memories with family, friends and her nieces and nephew. She enjoyed going to concerts, traveling abroad, visiting local restaurants, kayaking trips, photography, building legos and helping others. She rang in the 2022 New Year with her dream wedding.
Chelsea is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Jeremiah Frueh; parents, Dan and Ann Sobolik; sister, Jacey (Peter) Siniff, nephew, Parker (7) and niece, Rowan (2); sister, Melissa (Daniel) Healy and niece, Jovi (7 mos); sister, Becca (Cory) Cypher; brother, Eric Spagnolo; grandparents, Sally and Leo Sobolik; mother- and father-in-law, Cathy and Marty Frueh; sister-in-law, Hannah Frueh;
a large extended family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. July 23, at the Best Western Longbranch Convention Center located at 90 Twixt Town Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. Chelsea believed "Life was a Fiesta" and has requested fiesta-themed attire for all attendees.
In lieu of flowers and donations, Chelsea has asked that her memory be honored through family and friends making their own memories with each other, paying it forward, and living life to the fullest.
