Charlotte Walker, 83, of Coralville, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at Solon Nursing Home, Solon. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, followed by a Celebration of Life memorial reception at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Legacy Center, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, David Dowell, who died a month later on Sept. 11; her children, Cynthia Girard and Charles Dumond; and sisters, Shirley Bradford, Patricia Dillard, Margorie Schmiedskamp and Sharon Kay Bruenner.
She was preceded in death by a sister, her parents and two husbands.
Throughout her life Charlotte was a staunch advocate against social injustice. She also was a gentle soul who loved her family dearly.
Memorial donations may be given to The Salvation Army or Goodwill.
