Charlotte Joan McCaw, 73, of Buda, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, after battling cancer. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Salem United Methodist Church, 3715 33rd Ave. SW,
Cedar Rapids. Visitation at the church will begin at 9 a.m., before the service. A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown, at 3 p.m.
She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Oct. 4, 1940, daughter of Harold and Pauline (Pearson) Doud. She graduated from Blairstown High School class of 1958 and Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids in 1960. She worked as a hair stylist in Cedar Rapids until her retirement in October 2011.
Charlotte married Harlan McCaw on April 21, 1962, and they had three children, Craig, Kevin and Karla.
She was a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church and served her Lord in both the choir and handbell choir. Her love of music was obvious as she was a 45-year member of the Cedar Rhapsody/ Cedar Sounds chapters of Sweet Adelines.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Craig and Julie (Arntzen) McCaw of Dubuque, Kevin and Debbie (Goodman) McCaw of Buda, Texas, and Karla and Dominick Damiano of Blaine, Minn., and their father, Harlan McCaw of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Vicki (Carl) Gustafson of Urbandale; her grandchildren, Kristen (Jason) Whaley, Jennifer McCaw, Nicholas (Claudia) McCaw, Justin McCaw, Chelsea McCaw and Gabi, Jaden, Nikko and Charli Damiano.
Memorials may be given to Salem United Methodist Church.
