Charlotte Theresa Jacobson, 89, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Waterville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Terrace Glen Village in Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 155 Boyson Rd., Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, at the church, with Pastor John Albertson officiating. Committal services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, at East Paint Creek Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, located at 1751 Gronna Dr., Waterville, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charlotte was born on April 17, 1934, in Waterville, the daughter of Holger John and Julia Geneva (Sanderson) Busness. Even as a little girl, music had always been one of her passions. At the age of eight, she began playing the organ at her hometown parish. She was a 1952 graduate of Waterville High School. On Aug. 18, 1957, Charlotte was united in marriage to Richard Theodore Jacobson at East Paint Creek Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church. She became a bank teller at the Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank in Waterville before moving to Marion, where she worked for Brenton Bank in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and later, for Farmers State Bank before her retirement. Charlotte was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she served as organist for many years. She played at numerous weddings and funerals and even taught piano lessons. Charlotte was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and her Waterville roots. She enjoyed baking and sharing her baked goods. Charlotte will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Charlotte is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Kristine Davison of Ankeny, Iowa, and David Jacobson of Marion; brother, Ray (Karen) Busness of Marion; and a host of several extended family members, including nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard, in 2014; and son-in-law, Brent Davison.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the staff at Terrace Glen Village, for the love, care and support they all gave to Charlotte during her stay.
Memorials in Charlotte’s memory may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church, Terrace Glen Village or a favorite charity of donor’s choice.
