Charles Norman Wallace, 85, of Hiawatha, passed away Sept. 15, 2016, at UnityPoint Hospice in Cedar Rapids from a broken heart.
He was born in March 1931, to Newton Otis and Antonia Elizabeth (Wiesner) Wallace in Burlington, Iowa. After graduation, Charles joined the Air Force in 1950 and he served till 1954. After his service, he returned to Cedar Rapids, where he worked for Northwestern Bell for 33 years. In 1951, Charles married the one and only love of his life, Edna Jean Pennington, in Shreveport, La. From that blessed union came five children, Bobbie (Mark) Daugherty, Russell (Leonna) Wallace, Kim (Robert) Hernadez, Susan (Chris) Gentz and Michael (Gerry) Wallace.
Charles is survived by his children as well as 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife in 2015; his parents; his brothers and sisters; and his grandson. Adam.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family to deposit in a memorial fund in his name.
Mom and Dad loved to dance; they are dancing once again in heaven.
