Charles Vincent Kaska, 64, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, with a prayer service to begin at 7 p.m. at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Charles was born Oct. 30, 1954, in Taos, N.M., the son of Earl and Evelyn (Cox) Kaska. He married Jennifer Peshel on March 28, 2008. Charles worked at Goss for 20 years and HACAP for 15 years. He loved to tinker with old tractors and he had a special liking for Farmall tractors. He loved his "big boy toys" and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Charles enjoyed fishing, bowling and hunting. He was a loving family man. Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. His greatest joy was seeing his grandchildren born.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Kaska; children, Charles W. Kaska of Cedar Rapids, Brandi (Chris) Bell of Urbana, Iowa, and Nicole (Mark) Mast of Cedar Rapids; grandsons, Vincent and Maverick; siblings, Michael Kaska, Susan (Robin) Hupton and Karen (Mark) Owens, all of Cedar Rapids; nieces, Kristin Kaska and Samantha Kaska; mother-in-law, Karen Peshel of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Lillie Peshel of Cedar Rapids.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Evelyn Kaska; brother, Christopher Kaska; three younger siblings; and father-in-law, Herbert Peshel.
The family would like to give a special thanks to everyone at Mercy Hospice.
