Charles H. Steffes, 88, of Marion, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015. Funeral service: 3 p.m. Friday, April 3, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Certified Celebrant Julie Freese officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; children, Susan Clark of Marion, Charles (Janet) of Alburnett and Dennis (Vicki) of Marion; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Johnson; and half brother, Raymond Reese.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margie, Bernadette and Annie; and brothers, Andrew and Clem.
Charles Henry Steffes was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Fort Atkinson, Iowa, the son of Clem and Anna (Kipp) Steffes. On Aug. 19, 1951, he married Joan C. Quandahl in Spring Grove, Minn. Charles was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He enjoyed visiting friends, playing cards and especially gambling at the casino in Tama.
