Charles Robert "Bob" Bartlett, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2019, at West Ridge Care Center. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Pastor Kelly Caldwell officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Bob was born on April 30, 1931, in Marshall, Mo., to James and Sally (King) Bartlett. He is survived by his two sons, Chuck (Roberta) Bartlett of Tampa, Fla., and Rodney (Shannon) Bartlett of Solon; grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Spalding, Chad (Sarah) Bartlett, Miranda (Paul) Niemi and Alicia (Tony) Clark; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Will Bartlett and Abby and Landon Niemi; sister, Margaret Kieffaber; and special friend, Janie Dawson. Bob also is survived by seven stepdaughters, 11 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. Bob forever will be remembered by his numerous nieces nephews and extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father; brothers James C. and Malcom; and sisters, Mary Barton, Josephine Reid and Dorothy Klein.
Bob graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949 and served in U.S. Navy aviation during the Korean conflict. He married JoAnn Gooden in 1952. She passed away in 1991. He married Carol Ann Stalberger in 1995. She preceded him in death in 2006. Bob retired in 1995 after 41 years with Rockwell Collins as a division director. Throughout his career, he traveled extensively around the world and made many long-term wonderful friends at Collins. Bob enjoyed traveling, especially ocean cruises, golfing, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball teams and going to casinos. He had a deep love for his family and watching his grandchildren grow to become fine individuals. Bob also enjoyed time with his beloved dog, Charlie. He belonged to the Elks, Eagles and Collins Retirees organizations.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in the memory of Bob to Unity Point Hospice Cedar Rapids or an organization of the donor's choice.
A special thanks to the staff at The Keystones of Cedar Rapids, Westridge Care Center and Unity Point Hospice for their tender care given to Bob.
