Charles Dennis (Chuck Hart) Ritchart, 83, of 2716 Forest Ridge Ct. SE, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Catholic Church, by the Rev. John Flaherty. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and Tuesday after 9 a.m. at the church.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Steve (Maria) of Toddville and Mike (Darla) of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Patti (Steve) Etheredge of Milwaukee, Wis., and Lori (Bob) Garin of Urbana; 14 grand-children; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie (David) Johnson of Spirit Lake and Drucilla (Loren) Milne of Harmony, Minn.; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Carol Hoyt of Cedar Rapids, Art Johnson of Sterling, Ill., Betty and Virg Roth of Mason City and Don and Sharon Calkins of Loveland, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, Robert; a brother-in-law, John Hoyt; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Johnson.
Charlie was born Oct. 3, 1931, in Ruthven, the son of Andrew and Goldie Hansen Ritchart. He married Dorothy Lorrain Calkins on June 12, 1954, in Mallard.
Charlie was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He retired as a very successful salesman in 1992 from Smulekoff's Furniture Store, where he had worked for 34 years.
Charlie was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing. He was well known throughout his life as an outstanding baseball player and a pitcher for many leagues in the Cedar Rapids area. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.
