Charles E. Patton, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Phil Rogers officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen; children, Christopher (Nancy) of Plymouth, Minn., Curtis (Lisa Deng) of Madison, Wis., Beth (Steven) Patton Kauten of Portland, Ore., and James (Lora) of Sultan, Wash.; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael and Isabella; brother, Donald (Doris) Patton of Albia; and sisters, Mildred Shepard of Albia and Mary (Richard) Harper of San Francisco, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold, and sister, Helen Taylor.
Charles Edward Patton was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Albia, Iowa, the son of Robert and Elsie (Tedford) Patton. On Sept. 23, 1961, he married Ellen Crow in Cedar Rapids. He worked as an accountant for many years at Cedar Rapids Block Co. and then at HACAP. Charles was very involved with the youth programs at St. Paul's United Methodist Church and attended many sporting events at the local high schools.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or St. Paul's Youth.
