Charles M. "Chuck" McManemy, 64, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Chuck's final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Funeral services will be Monday, May 22, at 6 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Visitation will be Monday, May 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Charles was born March 2, 1953, in Belleville, Ill., the son of Robert and Ruby (Amburn) McManemy.
He attended East High School in Waterloo.
On Sept. 17, 2016, he was united in marriage to Jane DeVault in Iowa City, Iowa. He was previously employed as an electrician at Terex and Rockwell-Goss. Chuck was a security guard and EMT at the Meskwaki Casino and was a volunteer fireman and EMT in Shell Rock and Keystone. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing. Chuck loved watching his grandchildren play sports and participate in other activities. He also enjoyed music, and had played guitar in a rock band. Chuck was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Survivors include his wife, Jane of Tama; five children, Charles William McManemy of Shell Rock, Belinda (Wade) Barker of Allison, Brian (Jamie Miller) McManemy of Newhall, Zach McManemy of Newhall, and Kyle McManemy of Keystone; eight grandchildren, Christian, Abigail, Chuckie Jr., Hunter, Gage, Tanner, Taylor and Makenna; and one brother, Leo (Mary) McManemy of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Nancy Godbey and Marilena McManemy.
A memorial fund has been established.
