Charles Edward McCubbin Jr. died peacefully in his sleep on Monday morning, April 18, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
He was born the son of Charles E. and Dorothy E. (Fuller) McCubbin on Aug. 30, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio. He had two sisters. Charles proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969, which included two tours in Vietnam with the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines Division; receiving two purple hearts for wounds sustained in combat. On Dec. 10, 1994, he was united in marriage to Connie Jo Butler in Hiawatha, Iowa. Chuck and Connie enjoyed many years of traveling and camping together.
Charles is survived by his wife, Connie McCubbin of Hiawatha; daughters, Cara (Jon) Martin of Vinton, Brandie Butler of Vinton and Brianna (Brandon) Tylee of Cedar Rapids; and seven grandchildren, Anthony, Hailey, Brandon, Gabriella, Eryca, Kamilla and Taryn.
Charles was preceded in death by his father; mother; sisters; son, Charlie; and granddaughter, Elizabeth.
