Charles D. Linn, 83, of Tipton, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, in Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with the Rev. Ronald Lashmit officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery with full military rites. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fry's.

Charles was born May 5, 1932, in Mechanicsville, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence E. and Ruth M. Cronkite Linn. Charles graduated from Tipton High School in 1950 and served his country in the U.S. Navy. Charles was united in marriage to Janice Jean Holets on Sept. 28, 1957, in the United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville. Charles was the owner and operator of Charles D. Linn Co., was a member of the Methodist faith, a former member of the Tipton Moose Lodge, Tipton Country Club and the Tipton City Council and was an annual member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2537 in Tipton.
Charles is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Leanne (Les) Boots and Michelle (Don) Miles; sisters, R. Jeannette Jones, Yvonne Linn and Priscilla Linn; four grandchildren, Nathan (Katie) Shaull, Stephanie (Mike Nissen) Shaull, Charles (Mackenzie) Miles and Steven Miles; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Penny Jean (Linn) Weir; and his parents, Clarence and Ruth Linn.
