Charles Franklin Ealy passed away July 11, 2023. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service at noon Sunday, July 16, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
Charles was born on Oct. 1, 1940, in Matoon, Ill., the son of Raymond Franklin and Naomi Belle (Boaz) Ealy. He had worked at Iowa Steel and Iron in Cedar Rapids. He was baptized by his uncle Rev. Bill (Martha) Boaz, and they preceded him in death. Charles’ hobbies included fishing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed bowling and visiting the casino. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his son, Michael (Sara) Ealy of Holiday, Fla.; daughter, Stephanie Ramirez of Oklahoma; siblings, Jerry (Linda) Ealy of Cedar Rapids, June (Frank) Stephenson of Center Point, Rose (Gary) Swank of Maquoketa, Mona Bates of Brandon and Veronica (Lary) Roztocil of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Logan Ealy, Mary Ealy, Amber Cloud, Lester Ealy Jr., Jessica, Billy and Jerry; several great-grandchildren; and former wives, Darlene Ealy and Laurie Galindo.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Lester Ealy Sr.; sisters, Faye (Melvin) Holladay, Edna Brossard, Barbara (Larry) Ferch and Naomi Ealy, in infancy; and brother-in-law, Lary Roztocil.
