CHARLES T. "TOM" FELLING
Iowa City
Charles T. "Tom" Felling, 62, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Iowa City, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He had been in the hospital for six days and the very fine medical staff simply ran out of treatment options. His death was caused by gradual, over years, worsening physical/physiological complications of his cerebral palsy. He died in palliative care, comfortable, with his parents at his side. His care team from his REM group home in Washington came to the hospital to be with him at his death.
Tom was born in St. Joseph, Mo., in 1954. He was a good man. He did a lot with what he was given, had many fans and friends, and was gentle and kind, similar to other good people.
His family includes his parents, Charles and Margaret Felling and Shirley Yurkonis; and siblings, Christopher, Martin, Jonathan, Timothy, John McCown and Anne Hussey.
A memorial service will be held in the spring, after this Iowa winter is over. To leave a thought, memory or condolence, please go to the funeral home website at www.gayandciha.com. Contributions in Tom's memory will support camperships to Camp Courageous.
