CHARLES "CHIP" DICKERSON
Altoona
Charles "Chip" Dickerson, 48, passed away Oct. 16, 2017, in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at
Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion and one hour before the service at the church. Memorial services:
11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at First United Methodist Church in Marion by the
Rev. Mike Morgan.
Survivors include his sons, Riley and Tyler Dickerson of Altoona; his parents, Jim and Cheryl Dickerson of Altoona; his sister, Cindy (Chris) Miller of Toddville; and his aunts and uncles, Chuck (Kris) Carlson of Dallas, Texas, and Barb (Carroll) Kotouc of Nevada, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He was born July 14, 1969, in Waverly, Iowa, grew up in Marion and graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1988. He attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated from Mount Mercy University with a degree in criminal justice. He served in the National Guard. He was confirmed at First United Methodist Church as a youth and gave his life to Christ while a student at Adult and Teen Challenge in Colfax, Iowa, and Omaha, Neb., where he made many friends. Later, he attended Retrograde in Kalona, Iowa, where he gained more friends, and grew closer to his heavenly Father.
Chip loved humor, music, playing the guitar and finding the answer to any question on his phone. But most of all he loved his two sons, Riley and Tyler.
