Charles Daws Jr., 90, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at The Views of Marion. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing at the service. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Charles was born on Dec. 8, 1930, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Charles and Ethel (Reynolds) Daws. He graduated from Marion High School in Marion and went on to serve in The United States Navy. On April 12, 1951, Charles was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Abernathy in Marion, Iowa. She was his rock and love of his life. Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charles is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Beverly of Marion; His children, Doreen (Warren) McKenna of Kalona, Patricia (David) Yossi of Waterloo, Lynn Ennis of Ames, Julia Daws of Alaska and Jeffrey Daws of Cedar Rapids; seven grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Roth of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Harley and Harmie; and son-in-law, Brian Ennis.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Views of Marion and St. Croix Hospice for their extra hands and hearts.
