Charles “Dave” Ritchie, 79, of Marengo, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Graveside service and inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Marengo Cemetery, Marengo, with the Rev. Tim Miller officiating. A memorial fund has been established. Dave and his family are in the care of Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
Dave is survived by two daughters and three grandchildren, Heidi Ritchie and her children, Eav and Elliot Lossmann and Honee (Chris) Mesa, and their son Andy Mesa, all of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Gary (Nancy) Ritchie of South English; and a sister-in-law, Pat Ritchie of Marengo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Ronald Ritchie.
On Aug. 14, 1943, in Marengo, Charles and Frances (Roggentien) Ritchie were blessed with the birth of their son, Charles David Ritchie. He graduated in 1961 from English Valley High School. Dave was united in marriage to Bonnie Cobb in March of 1965, but the couple later divorced. He worked in HVAC duct work design and installation. Dave was employed at Amana Refrigeration, in Amana, Universal Climate Control, in Iowa City, and Robertson Air Services, in Stoneville, N.C. Some of Dave’s interests included going hunting and fishing, gardening and an appreciation for the Native American culture. Dave also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR.
