Charles "Chuck" Wayne Baker, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday April 17, 2017, in Meadowview Memory Care Village. Graveside services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Cindi McKee. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lorraine Baker; his children, Wayne (Shelly) Baker of Solon, Iowa, Brenda (Dean) Roberts of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Vicki (Jeremy) Dearduff of West Des Moines, Iowa; and his siblings, Elmer Baker of Vicksburg, Mich., Larry Baker of Pennsboro, W.Va., Doris Jean Talkington of Moundsville, W.Va., Marjorie McMinn of Middlebourne, W.Va., Nancy Crouse of West Union, W.Va., Mary Ann Richards of Middlebourne, W.Va., and Barb Tracy of Elkins, W.Va. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kathy Baker-Morgan in 2002; and brothers, James and Bobby Baker.
Chuck was born April 9, 1930, in Lima, W.Va., the son of Benton and Carrie (Orr) Baker. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Alice Wedo on Aug. 1, 1953, in Soap Lake, Wash. He retired from Farmstead Foods in Cedar Rapids and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Chuck enjoyed stock cars and camping, and was an avid bowler. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
