On Feb. 5, 2018, the Lord reached out for Charles R. Butters' hand. He was 86 years old.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Eileen Butters, on Dec. 15, 2015.
Charles was born to Jesse and Roy Butters on Dec. 21, 1931, in Guttenberg, Iowa. Charles eloped with his childhood sweetheart, Norma Rodenberg, and they were married June 1, 1951. They later moved to Marion, where they were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church. Charles retired from Rockwell Collins in 1992 after 37 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a "much older" sister, Eunice Koeppen (Toby); and a brother, Leland "Pete" of Marion.
Charles and Norma are survived by their six daughters, Virginia (Al) Simpson of Charlottesville, Va., Linda Smith (Tom McDonald) of Flower Mound, Texas, Barbara Clossen of Lawrence, Kan., Jeanne (Steve) Stevens and Catherine (David) Meyer of Flower Mound and Christine (Randy) Burns of Perrysburg, Ohio.
Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Lewisville Estates, 800 College Parkway, Lewisville, Texas 75077.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a memorial fund at Faith Lutheran Church, 155 Boyson Rd., Marion, IA 52302. Condolences may be sent to Jeanne Butters Stevens, 2712 Lakehollow Lane, Flower Mound, TX 75028.
