Charlene Marie (Hoy) Sojka, 94, passed away at her home in Swisher, Iowa, on March 25, 2023.
A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m., with the Certified Celebrant, Dr. James Coyle, officiating. Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial-Memorial Lawn.
Charlene Marie Sojka was born on April 16, 1928, in Mechanicsville, Iowa. She married the love of her life, Milo Sojka, on July 22, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Charlene was a member of the Women’s American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed crochet, knitting, walking, puzzles, dancing with Milo, going to the casino with her granddaughter, Iowa Hawkeye athletics, travelling, and spending time with her entire family.
Those left to cherish Charlene’s memory are her son, Bruce (Nancy) Sojka, of Swisher, Iowa; her grandchildren, Lindsey Sojka, of Swisher, Iowa, and Jason (Holly) Sojka, of Marion, Iowa; her great-grandchildren, Anna Sojka, Haley Sojka and Katelyn Zelle; and a sister, Pat Zimmerman, of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo; her children, Ricky and Rose Ann; her parents; and her sisters, Florence Owen, Virginia Fiermuth and Betty Ellsworth.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mary Ann Nelson for all the years she has cared for Charlene.
