CHARITY ANNIE (HEPKER) HYKE

Charity Annie (Hepker) Hyke passed away at her home Sunday, June 19, 2016.
Charity was born April 1, 1931, to Artie Dallas Hepker and Clarissa Ellen Chesmore, between Toddville and the chain lake area on a farm. She was educated in a country school. She married Charles Huster and had a baby, Lois, who passed away after just a few hours. After that daughter Charlene Ann was born. Later, she divorced Charles and worked at National Oats where she met Lyle J. Hyke. They married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on Nov. 21, 1953. He adopted Charlene then they had three children together, Lyle Richard, Edgar Lee and Dallas Dean. She lived in Cedar Rapids with Lyle for the entirety of their time together. A loving mother and wife, she passed her time as a homemaker as well as tending her garden. A lover of nature, she passed that on to her family. In 1965, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lois; and her siblings, Arthur Hepker, Willie Hepker, Harry Hepker, Howard Hepker, Pearl Livermore, Julius Hepker, Beatrice Hiskey, Sherman Hepker, Ruby Jorgenson, Mary Hiskey, Emiline Cmelik, Valinetine Hemphill and William Artie Hepker.
She is survived by her husband; her children, Charlene, Lyle, Edgar and Dallas; her grandchildren, Lisa Slade, David Borgenson, Nathan Miller, Maggie Davidson, Sharona Coyle, Brenda Hyke, Jonathan Hyke, Isaac Hyke and Alexandra "Alex" Hyke; her 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with burial immediately following. Bishop Bruce Jasper will be officiating services.
