Chapman, Dennis
Dennis Chapman, 51, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. The Rev. Al Polito will officiate at the services.

Surviving are his wife, Sylvia; five children, Alicia (Jared) Swanson, Vinton, and Amelia (Tyson) Haas, Abbey Chapman and fiance Justin Monk, Alexandria Chapman and Zachariah Chapman; his parents, Cletus and Theola Chapman; a sister, Deb (Chris) Rollinger; and a brother, John Chapman, all of Monticello; and seven grandchildren, Jack and Aldin Swanson, Jemma and Grady Haas, Dylan, Adalyn and Henry Monk.
Dennis Dwayne Chapman was born Oct. 22, 1962, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the son of Cletus and Theola Gray Chapman. Dennis attended Monticello Community Schools. He was employed over the years at Family Foods, Franklin Equipment, Al Iben Construction, Bob Faust Construction, Steiner Construction and Monk Construction. His saying was always: “If you can draw it, I can build it.” Family was always his priority; he loved to cook and garden as well.
