Chaplin, Dolores A.
Dolores A. Chaplin, 76, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at her home in Coralville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cosgrove with Father Dunn officiating. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with a rosary and vigil service starting at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Dolores was born on Jan. 13, 1936, in Oxford, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Marguerite (Rohret) Scheetz. She spent most of her life in Oxford, where she then graduated from Cosgrove High School in 1954.
Dolores married Lloyd Chaplin on Oct. 13, 1978. She worked as a housing coordinator for Benton County HACAP for many years until her retirement in 1998. Dolores was a longtime member of St. Peter's Church in Cosgrove, Iowa.
Dolores had many hobbies, such as fishing, camping, dancing, painting and singing. She was also a very avid card player. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her four daughters, Linda Goss (Tom Jogodka) of Minneapolis, Minn., Cindy (Mike) Evans of North Liberty, Jean Conner (John) of Iowa City and Jackie (Sam) Mize of Naperville, Ill.; two sons, Tom (Carole) Goss of West Branch and Bill (Barb) Goss of Oxford; a sister, Virginia (Norbert) Bertling of Coralville; two brothers, Paul (Lynnette) Scheetz of Cedar Rapids and Joe (Deb) Scheetz of Oxford; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and infant son, James.
