Chaisson, Rhoda 'Thelma'
Rhoda “Thelma” Chaisson, 93, of Davenport, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at the Kahl Home, Davenport. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, John (Gladys) Chaisson of Des Moines, Margaret (Jim) Archer of Denver, Colo., James (Margaret) Chaisson of Marion, Marilyn LeGrand of Davenport and Marci (Pete) Peterson of Central City; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and sister, Annie Laura Gerling of Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Riley Morris, Roy Morris, Felix Morris and Leon Morris.
Thelma was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Columbus, Ga., the daughter of Riley Norman and Annie Laura (Rogers) Morris. She married Earl Joseph Chaisson on March 6, 1943, in West Monroe, La. Thelma was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, Fleet Reserve 216 Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer for Hospice of Mercy for many years.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
