Chad J. Langfitt, 44, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 15, 2016. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Rick Gail, Cedar Rapids Police Department Chaplain. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include wife, Amanda Langfitt of Cedar Rapids; son, Dax; stepson, Landyn; former wife, Nikki Hayden; son, Quinn Langfitt, both of Cedar Rapids; parents, Jan (Don) Spurgin of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Robert (Nancy) Langfitt of Cedar Rapids; brother, Guy (Mary) Stanley of Anamosa; sister, Kelly (Stuart) Bell of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; his brothers- and sisters-in-blue; and dog, Echo Marie.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Carmen; grandparents, Dale and Julia Jones and Orland and Naomi Langfitt; and K9 partner, Dresco.
Chad was born Nov. 29, 1971, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Robert and Janice (Jones) Langfitt. He graduated from Kennedy High School and received an associate's degree in criminal justice. Chad served in the U.S. Army Airborne Division during Desert Storm. He worked for the Cedar Rapids Police Department for 19 years and was active in the K9 unit. Chad loved time with his sons, working out, watching football and scuba diving.
A memorial fund has been established for his two sons.
