Cella, Robert Peter Jr.
Robert Peter Cella Jr., 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his home. Funeral Mass: 1 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Philip Thompson. The family will greet friends one hour before the mass Thursday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Mary Frances (Steven) Pohlman and Robert Henry Cella; three grandchildren, Jack, Carolyn and Carter; sister, Alice (Edward) Brady; and brother, Peter (Barbara) Cella.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Robert Peter Cella Sr. and grandparents.
Robert was born July 30, 1937, in New Rochelle, N.Y., the son of Robert Peter Sr. and Frances (Moneuse) Cella. He graduated from Fordham University in New York. Robert married Barbara Marie VanBrederode in Bronxville, N.Y., in 1960. He was an accountant and retired from International Paper. Robert was a long time parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, and a member of Indian Creek Country Club, where he was a former president. He was a Rotarian and enjoyed golf. Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Catholic Charities, or to the American Heart Association.
