Celia G. Pond, 80, of Swisher, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Private family burial: Anderson Cemetery, Swisher.
Celia was born March 12, 1938, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Ysidoro and Louisa Rodriguez. She was the youngest of 11 children. Celia was married for 55 wonderful years to Alan Pond. To this union, four children were born: Mark "Bubba" (Kim) Pond of Watauga, Texas, Mary (Mike) Schutte of Janesville, Wis., Mike Pond of Swisher and Joe (Kelly) Pond of Swisher. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with another arriving in September. Celia cherished family, friends, the Iowa Hawkeyes, the St. Louis Cardinals and spending her winters in Texas and Mesa, Ariz. She was entertaining and always the life of the party.
Celia's family wishes to extend our sincerest gratitude to UnityPoint Hospice, and especially nurses Suzanne and Andrea "Red" and Chaplain Michael.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials be directed to UnityPoint Hospice in Celia's name.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2018, at the Swisher American Legion.
