Cecile Marie Sproston, 101, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Winslow House Care Center, Marion. Per Cecile's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private committal service will be held at a later date at Green Cemetery in Morley, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Cecile was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of Avert and Laura (Tallman) Cook. She was the first female metal plater at Rockwell Collins, formerly Collins Radio, where Cecile was employed for several years.
Cecile is survived by her son, Lauren Sproston; daughter-in-law, Sandy Sproston; four grandchildren, Mike, Carrie, Laura and Wayne; four great-grandchildren; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Everett; two sons, Alton and Ethan Sproston; brother, Marshall; and sister, Louise.
