Cecelia A. Koob, 86, of Monticello, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at the Monticello Nursing & Rehab Center in Monticello.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, where a parish vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church before funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held
at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello, with burial in the church cemetery at a later date. The Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate.
Cecelia was born June 17, 1932, in Cascade, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Angeline (Klein) McAllister. She married Joseph Koob on April 11, 1950, in Cascade. Cecelia and Joe opened their business, Hollywood Garage, in 1955 and later moved to the current Koob Automotive location in 1962. She kept the books for the shop and held various other jobs over the years. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Joseph; two sons, Steve (Madonna) Koob of Monticello and Philip (Carrie) Koob of Cascade; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sr. Dolores McAllister, OSF of Dubuque, Rita Hoffman of Glendale, Wis., Joseph Jr. (Marge) McAllister of Palmetto, Fla.; in-laws, Hal VanNest of Cedar Rapids, Flo McAllister of Cedar Rapids, Beverly McAllister of Marion, Marlene McAllister of Dyersville, Florence (George "Wilmer") Coyle of Anamosa, Katherine Gavin of Dubuque, Rose Marie (Alfred) Smith of Cascade, Dale Weidemann of Evansville, Ind., and Mary Lou (Francis) Takes of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Redmond; a grandson, Matt Redmond; siblings, Irene Huber, Alberta VanNest, Loretta (Bob) Minton, Margaret (Joe) Bakey, Kathleen McAllister in infancy, James McAllister, Donald (Cecelia) McAllister, Paul (Myrtle Mae) McAllister, Robert (Marge) McAllister, Charles McAllister and Thomas McAllister; in-laws, Jerome Hoffman, Irene Rogers, Helen Wiedemann, Irene (Merlin) Rogers, Tom Gavin, and Dorothy Ann Koob in infancy.
