Cavin, Bonnie Lou (Heidt)

Bonnie Lou (Heidt) Cavin, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully in her home Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. As per Bonnie's request, there will be no services. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion will be handling Bonnie's cremation.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Jeff of Minnesota and Elizabeth and Kelly of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Jamie, Sarah, Ashley, Candice, Bianca, Michael and Dahlton; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Born May 17, 1936, to Medar and Elsie Heidt, she attended Waterloo schools and graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1955. On April 12, 1957, she married William F. Cavin. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2007. Throughout their marriage, Bonnie and Bill enjoyed traveling and anything to do with the outdoors, and living vicariously through their grandchildren, with much laughter and also a few tears.

She will be deeply missed by her family and many dear friends.

 The family would like to thank Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, IBACC, Dr. Zenk, and Amy and St. Luke's Hospice for their care and support and a special thanks to Carol Reid, special daughter, for her help in keeping Bonnie home this last year.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband; twin grandsons, Jonathon and Thomas; her parents; and brothers and sisters, Bob, Harry, Ramona and Fred.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bonnie's memory.
