Cave, Gerald 'Jerry' H.
CEDAR RAPIDS - Gerald “Jerry” H. Cave, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Memorial Mass will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at St. Jude's Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is handling arrangements.
Gerald was born March 8, 1928, in White City, Ill., the son of Clarence and Ethel (Cooligan) Cave. He married Anna Mae Fagan on Nov. 21, 1953, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton. He served in United States Navy for two years, stationed in San Diego. Jerry was a self-employed carpenter and floor covering installer for over 25 years. He was a resident manager for 16th Avenue Storage for 27 years.
Jerry was passionate about golf and was a founding member of Hillcrest Country Club. He served as club president and was very involved in its development. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mount Vernon and also attended St. Jude's Catholic Church.
Gerald is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Anna; children, Brenda (Reg) Eberle of Cedar Rapids and Jeff (Christine) Cave of Solon; grandchildren, Christopher, David and Allysa Eberle, Kyle, Kelsey and Kendra Cave; and a brother, Kenny (Janet) Cave of Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Geneva Cook, Maxine McHenry and Lois Brecht; and a grandson, Andrew Eberle.
