Catherine Mary Mattes, 100, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the Halcyon House in Washington.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 25, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Bernie Weir officiating. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Prayer services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. The family will also be receiving friends on Monday, May 25, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
Memorials have been established for Washington County Hospice or outside lighting for St. James walkways.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Streb and husband, Butch, of Hills, Iowa; daughter, Kathleen Coleman and husband, Ron, of Urbandale, Iowa; son, Edward Mattes and wife, Joyce, of Kalona, Iowa; daughter, Nancy Westphal of Washington, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Rita Perry of Tennessee.
