Catherine Ann Faulkner, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 20, 2015, following an 11-year battle with cancer. Memorial services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, where a visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Dennis Juhl will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Randy Jay Faulkner; her children, Charles E. (Michelle) Faulkner, Melissa Faulkner, Amy Faulkner and Billy Faulkner, all of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Kamryn, Sophia, Kayleigh, Madalyn and Dylan, all of Cedar Rapids; her father, Lloyd Sylvester of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Mary (Sterling) Smith, Laura (Dave) Koering and Joan Sylvester, all of Cedar Rapids, Colleen (Mark) Kurtz of DeWitt, Julie (Jay) Delancey of Mount Vernon, Janice (Mark) Brady, Dennis Sylvester and Karen (Isaac) Malone, all of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose (Cronin) Sylvester.
Catherine was born Sept. 24, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Rose (Cronin) Sylvester. She married Randy Faulkner on May 4, 1974. Catherine was the bookkeeper for family-owned businesses, along with providing child care for 25 years, selling Avon and being an avid seamstress. She was a member of the foundation board at Camp Courageous of Iowa and also a member of St. Pius X Church. Cathy enjoyed sewing, spending time with her "rutbuster" friends, making crafts and spending time with friends and family.
