CATHERINE F. "KAY" DEBURKARTE

Catherine F. "Kay" DeBurkarte, 79, of Nampa, Idaho, formerly Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went to her eternal reward in heaven on Dec. 22, 2018, at Streamside Assisted Living from complications from a stroke.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 12, 2019, at Oakland Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Viewing will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church before the service. Burial at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Gibson and husband, Alan, and Karen Garmon and husband, Rick, both of Nampa, Idaho; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Tammy Jakoubek and husband, John, of Brandon, Iowa; stepsons, Ken DeBurkarte and wife, Elizabeth, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Darrell DeBurkarte and wife, Cheryl, of Newport, N.C., Ron DeBurkarte of Butner, N.C., and Dana DeBurkarte of Oxford, N.C.; several step-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Stolba of Cedar Rapids; and one brother, Tom Shaw and wife, Deb, from Davenport.
Kay was born on Dec. 5, 1939, in Oelwein, Iowa, to LeRoy and Cora Shaw.
She married Bernie Hearn, April 4, 1959, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1988. Kay married Donald DeBurkarte on May 16, 1992, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Jean Myers of Cedar Rapids.
Kay worked in the offices of Cedar Rapids Merchandising for 20 years and worked for the Cedar Rapids schools food department. Kay was also a member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years.
